Peter Cates will be making his national-level racing debut at the back-to-back Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series events at the Hidden Valley Drag Strip (Top End Nats – 14/15 July) and Alice Springs Inland Dragway (July 22/23) this month, campaigning a race car that is the only one of its kind in Australia and one of only 50 in the world.

John Willard’s ‘Aussie Outlaw’ has hit the Santa Pod dragstrip for the first time, and has already caused a sensation in the UK by smashing Outlaw Anglia records.
At last year’s Winternationals, Supercharged Outlaw racer Bill Fletcher was involved in violent braking area crash that totally destroyed his dragster, since recovering from the accident, the team have had a new dragster built, and Bill will return to competitive drag racing a year on.
The number plate says “Tuff” and it is. But nowhere near as tough as the rider.
While the weather destroyed what was shaping up as a record setting Sydney Jamboree, a few racers made the most of the preceding test days including Collin Willshire who raised the four cylinder bar in Australia once again with the Jett Racing Mitsubishi Eclipse.
You know Jamboree is close when the import boys start banging out huge runs like Paul Testa’s 7.33 at 183MPH, from his mighty Galant in testing at Sydney Dragway.
