Charlotte Liefting, a 17-year-old from Oxley Island, NSW, is preparing to take the long trek across the country for one of the biggest events of her season—the 50th Anniversary Goldenstates Drag Racing Championships. The prestigious event will take place at the Perth Motorplex in Western Australia on November 22-23, where Charlotte will compete in the Junior Dragster class.
Since the beginning of her racing journey, Charlotte has consistently showcased impressive performances and a steadfast dedication to mastering the sport, her commitment rewarded by multiple event wins at her home track, Sydney Dragway.
In her final year of competition in the Junior Dragster division, Charlotte is fully committed to making the most of her final opportunities this season. By attending the remaining championship rounds of the season, she will be focused on earning valuable points and pushing herself toward her ultimate goal – becoming the Junior Dragster NDRC National Champion. Moving on from the class with her ongoing relentless drive and passion, Charlotte is on a determined path to achieving greatness in the world of drag racing.
At this weekend’s Goldenstates Charlotte will be piloting the A/JD car previously campaigned by the Moresby family, made possible thanks to Brian ‘Scruffy’ Lake, a long-time friend and supporter of the Speedflow Jr Dragster Team.
“The idea came about at the Mildura Junior Nationals in late September, and without Scruffy organising the car, I wouldn’t have been able to compete at this extraordinary event,” Charlotte shared. “We also owe a huge thanks to Ian Board for helping Scruffy prepare and transport the car for this weekend.”
Charlotte and her team are proudly supported by Speedflow Products, Ice Slushee, PennGrade1, McGrath Meats, Road Warrior Trailers, and B.L. & S.G. Lake Brick Cartage. She expresses immense gratitude for their ongoing belief in her potential.
Preparation for the event has been a team effort, with Charlotte’s parents, crew members, and friends within the drag racing community working tirelessly to ensure she’s race ready.
