The Cowin name has again made Australian drag racing history as Andrew recorded the first five second nitro nostalgia pass on Australian soil at Sydney Dragway.
Cowin Family Racing have made several test passes in their 1957 Chev bodied Funny Car in their chase to the first five, surpassing Norm Longfield’s front engined dragster low six second best mark along the way.
Longfield has been on his own mission to own the historic mark.
On Sunday’s Nostalgia Drags event at Sydney Dragway Andrew Cowin laid down a 6.03 off the trailer followed by a 6.000 sitting the team on the precipice of history.
With the late afternoon upon them and ironically against Norm Longfield, the “Nitro Express” Funny Car stopped the clocks at a historic 5.898 @ 241 MPH achieving the team’s goal and etching another Cowin achievement into Australian history.
