Top Comp

Craig Allison remains undefeated in Top Comp with his C/AA, qualifying with a .2 under 7.28 Allison defeated Mike Nola and Frank Mamone in the final. The altered is wild ride however, they may want to look at increasing the cars downforce as the car is very wild in the top end.

Frank  “Mr 10.5” Mamone has tamed down the Nova …somewhat…for Top Comp with a best pass of a 7.05 for the event. After defeating a hard charging Matt Abel in the first round, tyre smoke finished him in the final.

Mike Nola qualified with a 6.75 in third, with a wild final qualifier when the Pontiac went to close to centreline going into a tank slapper through the finish.

NT’s Matt Abel made the trek down to sort out the new Chev doorslammer, Abel could not get the ’57 of the line without severe shake or tyre smoke. A 6.39 at 183 MPH in the first round finally had the car sorting going in the right direction.

Ivan Skaramuca only made two passes in the Camaro Top Doorslammer for a 6.74 best and did not compete in eliminations.

Super Comp

Super Comp had a big entry list of 18 cars, a few no shows and breakages reduced first round down to only 5 cars after 11 cars attempted to qualify.

After a problem plagued qualifying that saw Joe Signorelli take the car back to the shop after the 1st qualifier. Signorelli returned to dominate race day, 6.58 round one solo, 6.60 in round 2 over Clint George and a final 6.68 over Vince Panetta.

Vince Panetta is knocking on the national record with a 8.96 E/GA qualifier. A red light in the final ended what of would have been a close fought race against the GAS Celica.

A trans pacific battle has been waged over recent months between PAC Performance and Sammy Promotions in Puerto Rico over who has the quickest Rotary vehicle in the world. PAC resetting the world record 2 weeks ago with a 6.708, was short lived with the Sammy’s RX7 going 6.701 a week ago. George Rehayem made history again at this event breaking the 6.6 barrier to go 6.68 and claim back the title, Rehayem did not make a pass Sunday, perhaps too much celebration!

Dean Cordownier has guts to race this little 13B Startlet clocking 7 second ET’s in CC/SC

Emilio Spinozzi haw stepped out of the Super Stock truck into Adamo and his new Pro Stock GTO, a 7.62 best so far in sorting.

Supercharged Outlaws

Again with most of the Supercharged Outlaws racers sitting on the sideline, there were only 4 cars in the pits.

The first round was the final following withdrawals of Greentree and Bool, Norm McCormack scored his first Outlaws win 7.53 (7.49) defeating Phillip Glendenning 6.84 (6.75)

Anthony Bool continues to test his new 383ci Clevo powered XF Falcon.

Steven Greentree earned his Outlaws license on Saturday before running his first seven, a 7.55 in final qualifier. Unfortunately the hearse tossed a belt near the finish hurting some parts, not that a ecstatic Greentree seemed to care!

Top Sportsman

Top Sportsman winner Jason Haebich has had a dramatic year to say the least. After bouncing of the concrete in the Willowbank braking area at the WinterNationals, his Monaro spectacularly sheared a rear wheel off on the start line at the Nationals. Good fortune finally shone down as Haebich went past Jason Stares, Joe Geri, Tristan Triccas and a red lighting Andrew Constantinou in the final.

Tristan Triccas lead the field of quick sedans with a 7.23 from the mountain motor Capri. Triccas then went on to trailer a cherry picking Greg Fowler after a solo in the first round before being stopped by Jason Haebich in the semi on a hole shot 7.22 (7.20) to the Monaro’s 8.13 (8.10)

Like father like son or is it like son like father?, The Constantinou name seems to be always in one final, this time it was senior, or better known to most as the “The Butcher”. Defeating Sam Fenech, Craig Hewitt and despite the runner up finish due to a red light, Andrew Constantinou is leading the TCS.

Joe Geri continues to dial more power into the Lexus powered Capri.

Scott Cousins a newcomer to Top Sportsman with his 2JZ Dato, cracked his first seven with a 7.91

There was a few Rotary’s seeded through the field, and they can no longer be taken lightly. Jason Arcuri in his first meeting with this car defeated Ryan Taylor and Manios Ikonomopoulos before a unfortunate -.016 red light in round three against a breaking Falcon of Nick Pellicciotti.

Matthew Clarke debuted his new VL Super Sedan

Jorge Leiriao doing what he does best.

Modified Bike

Its been a long time between drinks but Geoff Veigel chalked up a victory in Modified Bike defeating Paul Geerlings, Gary Tansley, Michael Borg and finally Danial Huxtable. Veigel’s 10.97 (10.95) even with a slack.272 light was tight enough to defend the Suzuki’s 11.23 (11.00).

Danial Huxtable is having a solid TCS sitting 4th in the points with his runner up finish just 30 points from the leader. Huxtable went past Joe Khoury, Joe Borg and Matt Gildon in route to the final.

Matt Gildon’s 8.18 had his Hayabusa qualified more than a second ahead of nearest runner.

Super Street

It has been a while since we have seen so much American muscle in a Super Street Final. A yank tank final featured Carl Taylor’s Chev Bubbletop defeating Luke Griffiths’ red lighting Plymouth Satellite. Taylor was ecstatic with a hard fought battle to the final round defeating Matthew Gillespie, Neil Griffiths, points leader Michael Gauci and top qualifier Joe Zammit.

Like Taylor, Luke Griffiths’ Satellite is true streeter, no car trailer required. Griffiths beat Henry Spicak, Con Esta and Sam Sabato before picking a cherry in the final.

Joe Zammit pushed the envelope qualifying number one with a 11.009

Battle of the bugs of Chris Holland and Henry Spicak.

Super Gas

Super Gas had a slightly larger six car field, Roy Romeo defeated Rick Dudek in the final 9.92 to 9.89 after Graeme Spencer and Ben Scott in the earlier rounds
