This weekend will host the fifth round of the 2021 Central Queensland Drag Racing Association (CQDRA) Club Championship at Benaraby Dragway on Saturday September 25.
The fifth round of this year’s seven round Club Championship will see the full quarter-mile strip distance activated.
CQDRA President Mike Gawley said fierce competition will be the name of the game this Saturday as the Club Championship edges closer to what is sure to be a hotly contested final in November.
“We are excited to see our CQDRA Championship racers returning to full quarter-mile competition as we get closer to the finals,” Gawley said.
“There are several brackets that are neck and neck as we near the pointy end of the championship chase and anything could happen between now and November.
“We have been seeing the new Rocket Track Glue producing dozens of Personal Best efforts for many of Benaraby Dragway’s racers this year already, and I am sure round five is likely to bring more of the same!
“We hope to see many racers and spectators coming to enjoy the friendly family atmosphere here at Benaraby Dragway this weekend. We always have great camaraderie between the racers, fantastic food vendors, and a fun-loving crew working behind our fully licensed bars serving ice cold drinks all weekend. And you can even stay the night – bring a swag, a tent, a bus or a caravan and you can make Benaraby Dragway home for the weekend with no extra fees for camping!
“I am pleased to report that CQDRA membership is at an all-time high, so we encourage anyone that is interested in joining the winning team to go to www.benarabydragway.com and see what fun we are up to on and off the track.
“Having said that, you do not have to a be a club member to enter our Championship rounds, so come warm up on the Friday night Test-N-Tune, and if you’re keen, get in on the race action on the 25th.”
For those that want to take part but aren’t ready to take to the drag strip themselves, volunteering at the event is also an option.
“We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help run successful race meets, so please contact us on Facebook if you have a few hours to spare on the weekend,” Gawley said.
CQDRA thanks its local and international bracket sponsors, Repco Gladstone, Loftus Contracting – which is putting up $100 for any competitor that cuts a Perfect Light (0.000) in competition – as well as its lane sponsors AutObarn and Tannum Tyre Centre for their support of Benaraby Dragway.
