WA Top Fuel Motorcycle competitor Gordon Crawford be retiring from the category later in the year, citing age and also the high costs of nitro racing.
Crawford has sold his motorcycle to current points leader Mark Drew and will race it for the final time in Darwin in July.
At the recent Fuchs Winternationals in Queensland, Crawford said they had some handling problems and then faced Australia’s quickest motorcycle in the first round.
“We had issues with the bike pulling hard right at around the 400 feet mark,” he said. “We ended up solving the problem with the assistance of Mark Drew, but by that time we faced Chris Matheson in the opening round and that was the end of that.”
