The Aeroflow Nitro Funny Cars team is thrilled to introduce its newest driver, Damon Paton.
As a second generation racer, Paton has steadily climbed the ranks throughout his racing career. After years of honing skills and building a reputation in Supercharged Outlaws and Group 2 AA/FC classes, this new opportunity with Aeroflow marks the next chapter in his career.
“Who wouldn’t want to get in one of these?” Paton said with a laugh. “It’s always been a dream of mine to drive a ‘Big Show Nitro Funny Car’. It’s the pinnacle of the sport.”
After preparation at the Rocket/Aeroflow workshop and shadowing the teams at recent events, Paton was ready to strap in and experience the power of a Nitro Funny Car.
“On the first launch, the car went 0.88 to 60 feet and then smoked the tires. It was the most exhilarating and strange feeling I’ve ever experienced” Paton said. “The acceleration is unbelievable, and then, without warning, you’re thrown forward into the belts. It’s a massive eye-opener for how quickly things happen in these cars”.
By the end of his licensing passes, Paton had laid down an impressive 4.17-second pass at over 400kmh and has been signed off as Australia’s newest Nitro Funny Car driver.

The Aeroflow Nitro Funny Cars team are thrilled for Paton to join the team and pilot the Xpro by Aeroflow Nitro Funny Car. You can expect to see Damon and the Xpro by Aeroflow Nitro Funny Car team on track at Dragway at the Bend’s Riverbend Nationals on April 5-6 2025.
