Danaher sets his sights

Victorian drag racer Jack Danaher has come away from Saturday’s “Fuchs Lubricants Shoot-out” at Calder Park Raceway a happy man.

After some testing down at the South Coast Raceway in Portland earlier in the year, Saturday’s event at Calder Park was Jack’s first chance to run the full quarter mile with the team’s new engine combination.

“We bought the dragster out of the States as a turn key deal about eighteen months ago, but after two race meetings we hurt the engine pretty bad,” said Danaher.

It was then that Jack decided to sit out the remainder of that season and focus his time on piecing together a “killer engine combo”.

With the help of good friend Jason Cunliffe and the support from main sponsor UDT Logistics it wasn’t long before Jack and the team had the Dragster ready to go again – and go it did!.

On Saturday Jack pedalled the dragster to a 6.95 @ 195mph first pass, followed by a very quick 6.83 @ 198mph.

“We were rapt after the weekend, to come out and go straight into the sixes on our first full pass with the new combo was pretty special,” he said.

“I certainly wouldn’t be here without the help from my crew and sponsors ‘UDT Logistics, Exhaust Bros Geelong and Repco Colac.

The plan for Jack and the team is to now chase the ANDRA Championship, which will see them race all over the country including Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
