This weekend will see Darren Morgan Racing take to Sydney Dragway for the Australian Nationals, with the aim of solidifying their number 1 position in the ANDRA Top Fuel Championship.
“The Nationals is a very special event in Drag Racing circles”, said Darren Morgan. “If you’re going to win a race, the Nationals is definitely at the top of many racer’s wish list. It’s Australian drag racing’s version of the ‘big go’.” Coming off a win at the 1st round of the ANDRA Top Fuel Championship in Adelaide a few weeks ago, Darren is confident they have the tune and team that will see them go rounds and hopefully come away with a healthy lead in the championship.
“Sydney Dragway has been good to us,” explains Darren. “We have been very successful here. At our last meeting at the track, back in May at the Nitro Champs, we top qualified and were runner-up to Damian Harris in the final.”
The Top Fuel field this weekend will see the return of Martin Stamatis, the 2010 champion. Also on the card are Phil Lamattina, Allan Dobson, Terry Sainty and Luke Shepherd. “It’s business as usual,” according to engine tuner Ben Patterson.
“The car’s running really well and we didn’t have any issues keeping the engine together in Adelaide. We’re really looking forward to seeing what we can do on the sticky Sydney Dragway. The key to success this weekend however is consistency, getting through the shake zone and applying the power so the car stays stuck to the track all the way to the finish line.”
Joining the team this weekend for the Nationals is tool manufacturer Stahlwille through their Australian distributor White International. “We’re very proud to have White International onboard for this season and to be representing the internationally acclaimed brand of Stahlwille,” said Darren.
Founded in 1952, White International is an Australian company which began importing hand tools and distributing direct to end users. White International has rapidly grown into a national importation and distribution company servicing multiple markets across many different product groups. There will also be a number of new faces on the team this weekend; a generous group of people who contributed to the “300 MPH RIDE OF YOUR LIFE” campaign on crowd funding platform Indiegogo.
Raising over $8,000, these lucky individuals will have an experience they will never forget, crewing on a Top Fuel dragster and getting up close and personal with the loudest, fastest and quickest race cars on planet earth. So hold onto your hats folks as the 2012 version of the ANDRA Drag Racing Nationals roars into life Friday with sportsman qualifying and group 1 qualifying from 12:30pm on Saturday.
