O’Rourke Motorsport is on its way to Darwin for the fifth consecutive year, with this weekend’s Nitro Up North event to host OMS Pro Slammer at Hidden Valley Raceway across July 21 and 22.
Driver and team principal Grant O’Rourke will be looking to build on his top qualifying success at the event last year, where he set a 5.73 second elapsed time to lead the field to eliminations.
With a raft of changes having been made to the OMS machine since its last outing earlier this year, Grant and his wife Debbie are confident of a strong showing ‘up North’ this weekend.
“The team has certainly been busy over the last little while putting in place a whole range of significant changes to the OMS Slammer since we raced in Perth in April,” Grant O’Rourke said.
“We always enjoy heading up North for these events and can’t wait to see what we can do this weekend in Darwin.
“As part of the ‘Central Swing’, this weekend is always strongly supported by the NT fans and we will be surely doing all we can to put on a strong show and better our results of last year, while also looking to improve our best Hidden Valley ET.
“While we won’t be competing in next weekend’s Desert Nationals as a round of the championship at Alice Springs, we will be heading over to take part in an exhibition with 7 other doorslammers so it is a great couple of weeks ahead for us.”
The O’Rourke Motorsport Slammer will be one of 16 Slammers set to be on-track this weekend for what is round one of the 2017/2018 400 Thunder National Championship at Darwin’s Hidden Valley Drag Strip.
Qualifying will be held from 4.00pm on Friday 21 July before continuing from 4.00pm ahead
of feature racing from 5.00pm on Saturday 22 July. For full event info, go to www.nitroupnorth.com.au
