Davis looking for a Territory first

Records may be on the line this Saturday night at the 2012 Season Opener at Hidden Valley Drag Strip. Reigning Outlaw champion Craig Davis has registered his 600ci Ford Mustang and he has his sights firmly on the first 6 second pass for a SS/AA class vehicle at Hidden Valley.

David came close after a 7.05 second pass at 197mph in 2011 but with further work over the off season he is quietly confident.

“We were very close last year and with the right weather we may be able to go one better” said Davis.
“The track is going to be a little green so we will have to assess the condition during qualifying and set the car up for the evening’s racing.”

“It may only be a small part but we are still waiting on some new tyres to arrive from the US that we expect will give us the edge.”

Joining Davis will be seven other Outlaw cars vying for the first points of the Track Championship Series along with full fields of Super Sedan, Modified Bike, Super Street and Street categories.

Another competitor to watch will be Brad Baker who is expected to debut his wife’s Mazda RX3. With close to 600hp in such a small chassis, Baker’s trademark wheel stands could be bigger than ever before.

General admission gates open at 1:30pm on Saturday with qualifying from 2:30pm until 5pm and feature racing from the new time of 6pm.  Admission is $20 with children under 13 free.
