This weekend the AEG POWERTOOLS Darren Morgan Racing (DMR) Team will contest the biggest Drag Racing event outside of the United States of America as they take on a full field of Top Fuel Dragsters at the 2010 Castrol Edge Winternationals at Queensland’s Willowbank Raceway.
The final event of the 2009/2010 season will be staged between the 10th and the 13th of June (Queens Birthday long weekend) and it has attracted close to 500 entries, including 80 Professional Group 1 competitors and 9 Top Fuel Dragsters.
DMR enters the event with a pretty good track record having top qualified at Winternationals last year. “The last time we were in Queensland at the Australian Top Fuel Championships the car was very competitive, with a string of four second passes. We are looking to finish the season on a high to gain some momentum for next season. We are optimistic of a strong weekend as the car performed well at our last round in Sydney with a 4.66 second pass” added Team Driver and Owner Darren Morgan recently.
For the third time this season, and for the second occasion at the Queensland venue, the DMR dragster will carry the bright orange colours of their primary sponsor AEG POWERTOOLS. “It has been a big month for AEG. They have just launched their new Australian website (www.aegpowertools.com.au) and they have a big June specials sheet that is now available from all Bunnings Warehouses so we will be out there giving them as much exposure as we can”.
The DMR Team has already been seen in action at Willowbank this week with Caitlyn and Will Morgan contesting the Cosmic Enterprises Junior Dragster Challenge last weekend. Darren and the Family headed to Queensland a week early to run their Juniors Dragsters with both Caitlyn and Will doing a terrific job with both cars being very competitive throughout the day.
The Grand Final (Round 7) of the ANDRA Pro Series Top Fuel Championship will be contested between the 10th and the 13th of June 2010, at the Willowbank Raceway, Queensland.
Currently Darren Morgan sits in fifth place overall in the 2009/10 ANDRA Top Fuel Championship on 360 points.
