A gallant Larry Dixon was defeated by veteran Bob Vandergriff in round one of the Summit Racing Equipment Nationals in Norwalk Ohio.
The Rapisarda Autosport International pilot lead of the line with a superior reaction time of .090/. 121 sec. but blew through the clutch on the hit of the throttle,surrendered the lead by the 60-foot marker and trailed at the finish line with a 3.85/319 mph to Vandergriff’s 3.79/322 mph.
“It was a disappointing early end to race day,” said Santino Rapisarda. “The only consolation for the team was we ran our best pass of the weekend and didn’t damage any parts.”
