Drag Racing is coming home for Modified racer Emma Williams when the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series visits Calder Park for the Rowe Memorial on Sunday December 27.

The past 12 months, Williams competed in Sydney Dragway’s Atura NSW Track Championship. But with National Championship events returning to Calder Park, Williams has the opportunity to race in her home state on a regular basis.

“The past year we have been racing the track championship at Sydney Dragway, so being able to race so close to home in front of family and friends is going to be awesome!

“Our expectations for the Rowe Memorial is to try our best, of course we hope to go some rounds, but I’m just happy to be here racing in Victoria.”

Following in the footsteps of her parents, Williams first began racing in Junior Dragster back in 2009. In 2014 she attended Ken Lowe Drag Race School and completed her ANDRA Group Three licencing.

“This year was my first full season in Modified, which I finished fourth in the Sydney track championship,” she said.

“I hope to run a bit faster and achieve some wins, but overall I’m just happy racing. Win or lose I love it.

“The competition looks great (at the Rowe Memorial) so we’re really looking forward to it, plus it will be my first time competing against Luke Cartledge and Jess Turner. We’ve all been around racing our whole lives and also raced Junior Dragster together.

“I haven’t seen the new (Calder Park) surface yet, but everything I’ve heard about it has been positive so looking forward to seeing for myself.”

Round 6 of the Summit Racing Equipment Sportsman Series will be held as part of the Rowe Memorial Super Stock Classic at Calder Park on Sunday December 27.

Qualifying begins from 9am and eliminations are scheduled from 4pm. For more information please visit www.calderparkdragracing.com.au
