The Australian National Drag Racing Association (ANDRA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Emmanuel (Manny) Galetakis to its Board of Directors as an Independent Director.
Galetakis brings 28 years of experience delivering high‑capital, high‑complexity programs across the automotive, defence, medical/health, not‑for‑profit, and space technology sectors.
His career spans engineering development, design, manufacturing, global strategy, governance, business management, and the leadership of major programs and high‑performing teams.

He has also served on community level boards in disability services and arts and culture and holds the qualifications of Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical), Bachelor of Business (Finance), Master of International Business (Marketing), and Master of International Relations (Politics).
A lifelong supporter of drag racing, Galetakis has been connected to the sport for more than three decades through family and friends, as well as personal participation as both a street/strip racer and a spectator.
“ANDRA and drag racing have been part of my life and identity from a young age,” Galetakis said.
“ANDRA is a respected and trusted organisation that, through its members, truly understands the drag racing landscape and community in Australia.
“It is a privilege to now be given the opportunity to be part of the ANDRA family.”
Across 19 diverse roles, Galetakis has contributed to engineering innovation, strategic development, governance, and organisational improvement – experience he believes will support ANDRA’s future direction.
“Some of my proudest moments include the build of the first Bumblebee and prototype Camaros, as well as the prototype Hawkei builds for ADF,” he said.
“All of these experiences combine to give me a strong foundation to contribute to ANDRA’s governance and operational activity.
“I’m excited and proud to be representing the best motorsport in the world and to have the opportunity to play a contributory role in delivering positive outcomes alongside the great people of ANDRA.
“I hope to share the passion and broaden the awareness of Australian drag racing. My aim is to help ensure the longevity of the sport as it transitions to the next generation of racers and enthusiasts.
“I look forward to working closely with the Board, CEO Tim McAvaney, the ANDRA Members, volunteers, partners, sponsors, spectators, and enthusiasts.”
He added with a smile: “There is nothing more exciting than pushing the boundaries and limits of physics. See you all on race day!”
Galetakis is 50 years old, lives in Melbourne, works in Adelaide, and currently holds senior management ownership of Space Domain programs across both defence and commercial sectors.
ANDRA Chair Katie Cassar said she was pleased to welcome Galetakis to the Board.
“Manny brings an exceptional breadth of experience to the ANDRA Board, and we are excited to have him join us as an Independent Director,” Cassar said.
“His background combined with his lifelong passion for drag racing makes him an ideal fit.
“What stood out most is Manny’s genuine commitment to the sport and his desire to contribute to its long‑term success.
“His perspective will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen ANDRA’s governance, support our members, and build a sustainable future for Australian drag racing.”
