It was delayed two days by the weather hell that was unleashed on the east coast over the weekend, but Winternationals competitors finally had a chance to hit the black top on Monday in readiness for this weekend’s event.
There were no earth shattering performances as most racers concentrated on set ups. Steven Ham is back in Australia after a NHRA adventure with his new Pro Alcohol Funny Car and promptly was on the money with a 5.49 – probably the best performance run of the day.
Luke Marsden appeared with his now Pro Alcohol Funny Car and cruised into the fives on a 5.73 as they tip toe into the pro class for the first time.
Wayne Daley was the best of the Pro Stockers. The Dodge Avenger has not seen the track for quite some time but still on the pace with a 7.02.
Blaze Hansen fell short of having his Top Fuel Motorcycle licensed signed off despite running mid sevens, but should be able to run the crazy turbo machine in Comp Bike at the event.
The Ash Hamblin/Shane Seawright connection throwing down to the blower guys with the turbo altered punching out a 6.33 best.
Traction was not an issue as many found out.
