Super Sedan racer Jamie Turner broke through for his first ANDRA Christmas Tree at the weekend’s Mildura City Council Sunset Nationals, and he had to do it the hard way, running five rounds of eliminations as part of the biggest field of the event.
Turner took the win at the Davison Ford Sunset Strip for round three of the 2026/2027 ANDRA Regional Sportsman Series over runner-up Les Waight, having earlier accounted for Tony Tedesco, Johnny Ienco, and Chris Lioulios on his way through a 17-car Super Sedan field, before enjoying a bye run in the semi-final.
“It was definitely nice to finally get a Tree,” Turner said.
“I have been pretty successful in my racing, but I just hadn’t had a win at an ANDRA event yet.
“The racing is always tough in Super Sedan – it is a super competitive class with some great racers. We struggled a little with a small tyre radial on a hot track surface, but we made it work.”
For Turner, the win was made all the more special by sharing it with his father, Paul Turner, who builds the engine in the car and travels to the events with him.
“I have to thank my dad, Paul Turner, for everything he does, from building the power plant to always being keen to jump in for a trip away racing. It definitely makes it special being able to share it with him,” Turner said.
“My sister (fellow racer Jess Turner) and I are always comparing notes, from driving habits to delay box settings, and I feel that has helped me be a better racer.
“I would also like to thank Michelle from Bright Design as well as all the companies that make it possible: ETS Race Fuels, Dominator Torque Converters, Kavanagh Auto Parts, Higgins Race Heads, Supa Trik Differentials and Paul Turner Horsepower; and of course, all of my family and friends who support me and help out both on and off the track.”
