PARAMOUNT PERFORMANCE BREAKS INTO THE FIVES WITH AUSTRALIA’S QUICKEST LS

This article brought to you by:

The Paramount Performance team has been pushing the limits of the humble LS engine for years, establishing itself as the benchmark for LS-powered drag racing in Australia. Now, that relentless pursuit of performance has delivered a well-deserved milestone: the first five-second LS pass in Australia.

Last weekend, the team took its billet LS-powered Dodge Stratus to Sydney Dragway for a private test session with one clear objective to break into the five-second zone.

After a series of test hits, the team delivered, recording a 5.985-second pass at 230.17mph (370.4km/h) to etch its name into Australian drag racing history.

The achievement is the culmination of years of development and pushing the boundaries of what was possible with the LS platform.

Back in July, Terry Seng had the Dodge Stratus flying at the Kenda Braggin’ Rights event, recording a blistering 4.02-second pass over the eighth-mile. The following day, the team switched its attention to the quarter-mile, where it laid down a then-record Australian LS performance of 6.09 seconds at 209mph.

While Terry has continued to chase performance with the Stratus, his sons have been making their own mark on the LS world. The Seng brothers recently recorded a world-record eighth-mile pass of 4.305 seconds in their Commodore, running on 235-series tyres.

The accomplishment carries significance beyond Australian shores. The 5.985-second pass is only the second five-second quarter-mile run by an LS-powered car anywhere in the world. It also makes the Stratus the first factory-bore-space small-block combination to run a five-second quarter-mile in Australia.

To go with the alloclades of the first five-second LS in Australia, it is only the second ever LS to run a five in the world and the first factory bore space small block to run a five in Australia.
