Supercharged Outlaws racer Mick Mahoney experienced a massive crash at Fuchs South Coast Raceway in Portland, Victoria earlier today and the first video has emerged of the hit.
In qualifying for the opening round of the Aeroflow Sportsman Drag Racing Championship, Mahoney got loose during his pass and crossed lanes, making heavy contact with the opposite safety barrier. Racing had to be called to a close for the day in order to repair the section of wall.
Our friends at dragpix.net.au had their live stream set up and captured this amazing video. Photographer and videographer Jesse Kelly’s camera rig copped a fair bit of the brunt of the accident but it is fair to say not as much as Mahoney’s Capri.
Fortunately Mahoney was for the best part uninjured, with the exception of his hip pocket.
