From Pro Slammers to Supercars, Team Bray is ready

At this weekend’s Gulf Western Oil Winternationals, Team Bray Racing will not only be taking on the Pro Slammer field but also Supercar star Chaz Mostert to the delight of race fans.

This weekend (June 6-9) at Willowbank Raceway, Victor Bray and Ben Bray will compete in the Pro Slammer ranks at what is the largest drag racing event held outside of the US in their Gulf Western Oil Pro Slammer machines, looking to progress from 5th and 3rd on the championship ladder respectively.

In addition, Ben will also bring his Century Yuasa Batteries Toyota Solara onto the track to take on Supercars driver Chaz Mostert and his Supercheap Auto Ford Mustang over the quarter-mile on the Friday and Saturday of the event in a three-round match series.

“This won’t be the first time that a fully-fledged Supercar has raced down the quarter-mile at Willowbank Raceway – Jamie Whincup and Craig Lowndes did it back in 2009 with Jamie walking away with the best ET of 10.80s,” Ben Bray explained.

“It will be interesting to see what Chaz and his Mustang can do on the strip – we will have three races (two on Friday and one on Saturday) and I can assure you, I will be looking to bring home the honours for Team Bray Racing and Century Yuasa Batteries for sure!

“Whatever happens, I think this is a really fun concept and one that I am looking forward to being a part of – I am sure the fans will be getting behind it as well as part of all of the Gulf Western Oil Winternationals festivities.”

Ben is currently 90 points adrift of second-placed John Zappia while Victor is fifth and only nine points away from fourth-placed Emilio Spinozzi in the 400 Thunder Pro Slammer championship, which concludes with this weekend’s event at Willowbank Raceway.

“Mathematically Ben could overtake Zappia for second and I am very close to Emilio in fourth. As we have all seen time and time again, anything can happen when it comes to drag racing and we will be putting all we can into making sure we walk away from the Gulf Western Oil Winternationals with the best results possible,” Victor Bray said.

“We would love to finish the season in third and fourth or even second and fourth if possible, and I can tell you that the ‘Victor of old’ is back and ready to give it a good crack this weekend!

“This is the biggest event of the year and with our naming rights partner Gulf Western Oil also the sponsor of the Winternationals, it is very important to us – we sure would love to add to our collection of Winternationals Christmas Trees!”
