Qualifying for the mammoth 2022 Kenda Tires 660 Drag Radial Series event Radial Riot has been run and done.
In Outlaw Radial, Wade Wagstaff in the Grinch 57 Chev ‘sent it’ on the first pass down track in qualifying with a 3.67 at 203MPH, this would hold up for the rest of qualifying as the ET to beat. Rival Daniel Szabolics in the Dandy Engines procharged Camaro slotted into second with a 3.79 with the Paul Merry Nova and Jarrod Wood in his new ex El Diablo blown Camaro rounding out the three second runners with a 3.95 and 3.96 respectively.
Lorenzo Gullotto picked up where he left off at the last Kenda event in Sydney, the West Aussie’s Fox Body was the class of the Outlaw 275 easily leading the way with a 4.26 best.
In Outlaw 235, Scott Cortina narrowly hung on to the top spot with a 4.68 ahead of Simon O’Carroll and Ben Taylor.
In the OG classes, and it was John Elfes taking the big VT to the top of the OG 275 pack with a 4.66, and Dale Heiler slammed out a 4.31 in OG 315. But unfortunately Heiler fatally wounded the Castle Hill Performance Commdore in process, leaving the Manny Debrincat Mustang to lead the field into race day with a 4.39.
It gets real from 4pm QLD time today with Outlaw Radial to muscle up first in the fight to win Radial Riot 2022. The event will be live streamed here:
