Drag racing has finally returned to the Top End post-COVID after an 18 month break with the running of the first round of the track championship.

The event wasn’t without its drama with Bronte Henning dropping fluid sending his lovely Corvette Top Doorslammer into the wall. Word was Henning was unharmed and hopefully it is mainly cosmetic damage to the car.

Results for the event finals were:

Top Eliminator: Ashley Smith def. Gary Baker

Super Modified: Chris Moore def. Peter Kirkpatrick

Modified Bike: Allan Henry def. Dean Hersey

Super Street: David Bates def. Allan Applebee

Street Car: Jeff Paredes def Dyan Wegener

Street Bike: Matthew Champney def. Mark Tattingham

Next round of the track championship is on May 15. Following that it all heats up with the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars returning for Nitro Up North on June 18.
