Hidden Valley Dragway given fans a taste of whats to come at the May 16th 2015 Season Opener with some pre season testing.

Along with the Beat The Heat Street event, over 100 racers turned out to test and tune their machines with one of those being the venue’s very own Track Chief Glenn Bull.

After a seven years hiatus from racing Bull dusted off the race suit to get back in the driver’s seat. After a few test runs his first full pass with the new combo saw a personal best of a 8.51 at 158mph.

“After seven years of not racing you can imagine I’m a bit rusty, but it was great to get the altered down the track and we are confident there is more to come out of this car,” said Bull.

Another driver getting his first taste of the track in a new vehicle was Troy Wittwer, although Troy and this car are no strangers to racing at Hidden Valley this was the first time that the two have come together.

“I’ve raced at Hidden Valley for many years and in many different cars but it was great to get some testing under my belt in the Studebaker,” said Wittwer.

A couple of oil downs during the night slowed racing down a bit, but hats go off to the track crew for working hard to get it all cleaned up and everyone racing again in great time.

The event came to a spectacular end with a huge turnout of cars eagerly awaiting to fry their tyres in the newly named Cairns Industries Colosseum.

Next event Beat the Heat of Street is on May 8th – Gates open at 6pm, racing from 7pm.
