Another hard fought Speed Adict Clothing NSW Championship has been run and won in 2022 at Sydney Dragway.

After finally being able to get in an uninterrupted season of racing at Sydney Dragway – bar losing a couple of rounds to weather events – the season came to close, and champions were crowned at the recent series Grand Final.

Into the results, and Top Sportsman saw Paul Partridge deliver total domination, winning four out of the six completed events to claim the Track Championship, however in the final event, he was stopped by young gun Joel Burns with his nitro snorting Truck Norris S10 in round two. Burns then proved too good for the rest of the field defeating a red lighting Anthony Bool in the final.

It was was great showing by Bool, normally seen hanging out in Supercharged Outlaw, but with not enough racers for that bracket, Bool made a worthy transition into Top Sportsman.

Leonard Azzopardi won three rounds of Extreme Bike during the season on his wild ‘Out Run’ Hayabusa, but a missed round three saw his better-half Deanne sneak home for the championship on consistency. Leonard capped off the season with a win though at the final round defeating Geoff Gradden’s sometimes jet plane Hayabusa with a 7.17 to 8.38.

Modified as you would expect was hotly contested all year, Adriana MacCaskell in her debutant season wither her dragster – towing up from Victoria for every round – knocked up three round wins, including the final event where she defeated CJ Davies, with a 7.125 on a 7.12 dial.

Unfortunately a missed event may have proved a difference maker in the end for MacCaskell, with Leigh Hartill-Law finishing the year on two event wins in his roadster and couldn’t be rounded up in the points.

Sean Maher put an exclamation point on his Super Sedan season by winning the final event of year against constant foe, Joe Zammit. While it was Maher’s only win of the season, he had two runner-up and semi-final showings in his pocket that would land him the championship.

Modified Bike was tight at the top in points, Sean Ricketts did everything he could to challenge for the championship taking the event win over a red-lighting Travis McCleverty in the final. The Kawasaki rider had four final appearances, culminating in three wins across the season, but three wins to Peter Strudwick’s on his V-Rod, and some better points finishers over the season saw him sneak home for the title.

Two wins to kick off the season set the scene for Richard Matosevic’s Super Street season, and ultimately setting up the win in the championship. Matosevic lost to David McGlinn in the semi at the Grand Final, McGlinn went on to defeat Henry Spicak in the event final.

The Junior Dragster final was decided at the tree with Max Perri running foul of the tree, gifting the final event of the season to Jake McNamara. Finishing the season on two wins, Josh Bertenshaw accumulated the highest points tally of the year to be crowned Track Champion.

Don Zammit finished the the Street Fighter championship on top ahead of daylight. Zammit won a massive four rounds, including the final event against Jim Matosevic in an all-conquering display of racing dominance.

The Street Bike championship was a polar-opposite, Tristan Anderson and Stefan Stivala finished the year on equal points. Anderson on his cool Royal Enfield nabbed the runner-up finish, with Colin Northcott winning the event, the points earnt by Anderson not only tied up the championship, but won it on countback.

The 2023 Speed Adict Clothing NSW Championship kicks off in February next year and will be contested over eight rounds.
