The Queensland Drag Racing Championship is rapidly rolling on for 2024 with round two held recently on another perfect Winter’s day at Willowbank Raceway.

QDRC Outlaws made their first appearance of the season with five entries, after three rounds of Chicago Shootout the final was a familiar family affair between the Fletcher family at their supercharged dragsters. The elder-stateman in Bill took son Josh to school with a 6.779 on a 6.77 for the win.

There were a good number of riders in QDRC Competition Bike trying to hit their class record across the event, in the final a red light from Dave Finlayson handed the instant event win to Aaveen Autar. Unfortunately in QDRC Super Comp breakages in qualifying dropped the vehicle count to just two for racing, not enough to hold a competitive bracket. Jai Schulter and Rahim Tarr the only survivors raced off in round one with Schulter winning well under the 9.37 index with a 8.935 in his E/Gasser.

Paul Doeblien was looking for back to back Top Sportsman QDRC win after reaching the final, but would be denied by Steve Horvat’s Monaro running 8.361 (8.35) to the Falcon Ute’s 8.517 (8.50). Adam White had his VL on song in Super Sedan to drive around last start winner Rudi Whyatt in the final.

In Modified Lucas Holz is looking to dominate the QDRC season again, and is off too the perfect start with back to back event wins. Holz grabbed the win over Andy Diver in the final on a holeshot. It was rinse and repeat in Modified Bike as well with Brian Alviso nailing his second straight QDRC win to remain undefeated this season, his task in the final made easy courtesy of a Jamie White red light in the other lane.

A red light also decided the Super Street final as Jenny Ashen picked a -.047 cherry off the tree allowing Troy Hutton drive away to the win unchallenged. Nixon Cannuli caps off the event winners as the third generation racer jagged the win when opponent Chase Karslake broke out by a bunch in the final.

The next round of the QDRC is on Sep 7.
