It was another big day of action at round four of the Queensland Drag Racing Championship as the series drives to it’s conclusion and crowning of Willowbank Track Champions.
Jai Schluter continues to streak ahead of the QDRC Super Comp field in the championship with his D/MP Cavalier with another final appearance, but it was Dave Lee who decimated the 9.91 H/MS index in the final with a 9.29 in his Holden to take the stripe first, Schluter’s wheels up 8.636 on a 9.13 falling just short.
Chris Collin snuck ahead in the QDRC Comp Bike championship over Aaveen Autar. The pair ended up facing off in the final as well, but it was over quickly at the tree with Autar going red.
The Fletcher family rivalry in QDRC Outlaws continues, the father and son duo lead the championship, with father Bill holding a slight lead. The two Fletcher dragsters were again in the final, Bill strapping a slight holeshot on son Josh and then taking the line first with a 6.872 on a 6.86.
Paul Doeblien raced to his third final round of the season in Top Sportsman with his Falcon Ute. Danny Lake’s Cutlass was in the opposing lane, the two bracket heavy hitters fought hard to a double-breakout finish at the stripe, with Doeblien earning the narrowest of victories to extend his championship leading margin.
The top two hitters in Modified also squared off in the final, Brett Farnell chalked up a win in his FED against the altered of series leader Lucas Holz. Farnell’s .019 slayed Holz on the tree who was uncharacteristically late setting up a safe win at the other end of the track.
A .010 hit at the tree and a 9.478 on a 9.46 at the strip had the win light on for Adam White’s VL is the Super Sedan final over a breaking out Damien Morris. The result though was still healthy for Morris in advancing his championship leading status.
Shawn Takis and his Capri cleaned up again in Super Street to also further gap the chasing field in the championship. Taskis’ 10.980 on a 10.97 drove around the holeshot from Samantha Youlten in the top end for victory.
Another event and another win for Brian Alvisio in Modified Bike as he continues his streak of contesting every final this season. Tammy Goldthorpe is a gun in Modified Bike on her own right and nailed Alvisio to the tree with a .015 reaction but was unfortunately to quick on the top end, breaking out.
Real Street has joined the QDRC party for a late championship inclusion, with this being their second round. Ian Nielsen steered to the win and championship lead over Tony Rogers in the final. Karl Schulz was the victor in Junior Dragster as he defeated Lexis Lancaster in the final.
No time to wait until the next round of the championship on Nov 9.
