The local Perth Top Doorslammer series heats up as Summer Slam delivers Lisa Gregorini’s first home town win, plus Top Fuel Motorcycle and all the Perth Motorplex sportsman classes continue their Track Championship fights.

Lisa Gregorini had taken the lead in the WA Top Doorslammer Championship when she defeated the legendary John Zappia in the Top Doorslammer A-Final with a 5.74 to 5.97. Zappia top qualified on a 5.78 ahead of Daniel Gregorini’s 5.83. Steve Aldridge bumped into third in his comeback race with a nice 5.87 out of the rebuilt ‘Cuda while Lisa Gregorini rounded out the five second runners in fourth on a 5.98. Lisa went through to the A-Final off a 5.799 win over Shane Catalano’s Valiant’s 5.99 and Zappia blasted a 5.708 against Frank Taylor. The B-Final was made up of Brodie Zappia who defeated Daniel Gregorini in round one and Matt Abel who scored a 6.07 win light against Aldridge. Unfortunately Abel could not front for the B-Final leaving a solo to Brodie who clocked a 5.91.

There isn’t much to write about for Top Fuel Bike, with three bikes in the pits. Tony Wood top qualified with a 7.60 onboard his flame throwing Kawasaki and featured in the only elimination run going down against Travis Lorraway’s nitro V-Twin.

In Top Comp, Madison Brown top qualified and set the BB/FCA track record with a 6.331 in round one to line up against Connor McClure turbo Corvette weapon in the A-Final. Unfortunately a serious accident in the B-Final saw Chris Roe’s turbo Mustang suffer a engine failure and fiery crash in the braking area ending racing for the night. Roe was able to clear himself from the car and walk away, and we wish him the best on his recovery and future.

As a result, along with the Top Comp final, all other remaining finals could not be run with the venues curfew approaching.
