GALLERY & RESULTS: SUPERCHARGED THUNDER ROCKS EASTER AT SUNSET STRIP

The sounds of blown engines echoed across Mildura once again as the Atlantic Oils Supercharged Shootout fired up at Atlantic Oils Sunset Strip over Easter.

Part of the annual Power Sports Festival in the region, the traditional Good Friday show in the centre of town once again attracted tens of thousands of people to suck up some racing fumes during a drag racing display fire up as a perfect promotion of the event.

The crowd rolled into Atlantic Oils Sunset Strip by the thousands, and weren’t perturbed by a delay between qualifying and racing when a dust storm and a few showers held up the show for a little while.

When racing was underway, Supercharged Outlaws were the headliner and at the end of the night it was South Aussie Bob Sherry wheelstanding to the win in Chev over Brendan Carr’s sweet new GXP in the A-Final.

In the B-Final Steven Walker and his wild slingshot FED grabbed the win over a red lighting Tim Stewart funny car.

Other awards were:

Atlantic Oil Best Presented Car and Crew Winner – Brad Sullivan

Atlantic Oil Best Presented Car and Crew Runner Up – Chris Farrugia

Dalton Automotive Best Presented Junior and Crew – Paige Harvey

In other racing results on the night Mason Kuchel took home a well deserved win in Junior Dragster over Todd Wagner and Cooper Plummer out rode Lucas Bergamin in the Junior Bike final.

A portion of the racing and the rest of the finals were held over to Sunday morning after the traditional Easter egg hunt when racing had to conclude at midnight on the Saturday due to the earlier delays.

Coming back the next day to collect bracket wins were:

Neil Mellet in Super Street over Andrew Waight.

Super Sedan was won by Benny Phillips’ Holden wagon against Pat Caruso.

Alex Johnston had the Mustang on song to win Top Modified against Kym Driesner.

In Super Gas it was Des Woolstencroft with the final win over Colin Griffin.

A big Nostalgia field came down to Rod Kerr winning the final against John Marigozidis.

Derryn McGregor rode to victory in the Modified Bike final with Alex Page the runner up.

And Kris Wilson defeated Danny Wilson in the Street Car final.
