The boss of the Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars series, Graeme Cowin, has been inducted into the Australian Motor Sport Hall of Fame, presented by Speedcafe.com.
The humble Sydney-based racer was excited to be amongst the legends of Australian motorsport history in being recognised for his achievements.
“We have some pretty famous names on that list, so to be in that company is certainly amazing, I’m honoured!” explained Cowin.
Graeme Cowin forged his reputation in Australia as racer before heading to America to take on the world’s best, facing off with US legend, John Force in his very first event. His immediate success is testament to his and his crew’s capabilities.
Perhaps the biggest domestic achievement for Cowin was at Calder Park in 1993, when he became the first driver outside of North America to break five seconds (4.895-seconds at 473.84km/h) for a quarter-mile pass.
As always, the man referred to as GC, was quick to thank the other Cowin, wife Wendy.
“I wouldn’t have even gotten off the startline if it were not for Wendy. We have always done this together and we still do today as we progress the Aeroflow series.”
From humble beginnings as a truck driver, to the development of Rocket Industries, one of Australia’s most successful performance parts businesses, then the launch of the Aeroflow brand, Cowin has always pushed forward both on and off the track.
