For Steven Ham and the East Coast Lubes/Mobil 1 funny car, the Adelaide Pro Series 1000 proved to be an extremely successful event.

The shorter distance and all asphalt track would prove to be a challenge, and the team responded well with all attempted runs resulting in no tire shake.

After qualifying second with a strong 4.98 second run, the team took on Rick Gauci in the first round. After giving up a start line advantage, The ECL funny car rocketed to a 4.94 second run, to move to the teams first semi final appearce of the season.

However, the team’s best run of the weekend, a 4.93 was not enough to take out John Cannuli’s Low ET, 4.89. This was not to dampen the team’s spirits with the constancy and performance of the car being a strong positive to take from the event.

“We are wrapped with the cars performance over the weekend. I didn’t have to peddle the car at all over the weekend, and this was great for the teams and my own confidence.” Commented driver Steven Ham. “We really feel that we understood what the car is doing and seem to be getting a small handle on the setup. The team is very excited for the Nitro Champs.”

Moving forward to this weekend’s Nitro Champs, Steven commented on the positives of the past meeting and test session in Sydney. “If we can continue on with the constancy the car has had in Adelaide and the test session in March, we should hopefully perform well.” Commented Steven.

The team will be competing in the Top Alcohol bracket at the upcoming Nitro Champs at Sydney Dragway, on the 5th and 6th of May. For more information visit sydneydragway.com.au
