After the traditional wet season break there are plenty of teams are eager to dust off their race suits and get down to the track in what will be the first competition round of 2015 for Hidden Valley Dragway – this Saturday’s Track Championship series will kick off the venues 30th year of drag racing.
Plenty of Darwin’s fastest cars will be geared up to score their first championship points in the hope of getting an early championship lead after the first round.
Hidden Valley’s very own President Scott MacLean has been working hard with his crew to get the MacLean Motorsports Top Alcohol Funny Car ready for this year.
“We have been working hard in the off season to freshen up the motor and give this car a brand new look for 2015,” said MacLean.
A number of new cars are expected across all brackets for the new season – one of those is the youngest of the local racers, Darcy Muller in her new Junior Dragster.
Also helping to celebrate this season opening event is the wheel standing madness of the Aussie Bandit Ute. For those that have yet to witness this, it is a 1700 horsepower, supercharged methanol injected big block Chevy mounted in the back of the Holden Commodore Ute, with a sound that has to be heard and fire shows that ignite the sky.
Not to be missed also lighting up the Cairns Industries Colosseum will be tyre frying burnouts from North Queensland Pro Burnout winner, Kandos Top 10, four time Cairns Burnout Comp winner Colin Wolfe in [SMKSHW].
