Ryan Moresby is the latest five second Pro Slammer drag racer in WA, with stunning performances coming just in time for the MacTrack Westernationals at Perth Motorplex on March 3 and 4.
The Dananni Hotshots Ford Falcon ran not just one but two five second times at the recent Nitro Night event, besting with a 5.90sec clocking over the quarter mile and taking the event victory over John Zappia.
Moresby explained how changes in the 3000 horsepower Falcon’s suspension were responsible for the massive improvement.
“The car’s performance picked up pretty much from fixing the rear end in the car, making me comfortable in the car, and hitting the shift points,” he said.
“We had bent lower four link arms, so we changed the design on those thanks to Black Magic Race Cars, then we pulled the rear four link plates off the chassis so again they were fixed thanks to Lauren and Geoff at Black Magic. They made a new set of wheelie bars while they where at it and now the car seems to be happy, so ‘touch wood’ all is good.”
Controlling the horsepower and maintaining traction is the key to a quick drag racing pass and now that Moresby has that control, he hopes the team can stay consistent in the car.
“We are hoping we can keep it in the five second zone. The engine tune up is on the safe side so we can look at that and see if we can get it a bit quicker, but I’m happy with the 5.90 and any quicker would be a bonus.”
The MacTrack Westernationals is a world class event that has attracted a truly epic entry list for Pro Slammer many are describing as the most competitive ever seen.
“I think to just qualify for race day at the Westernationals I would be stoked. There is a heap of quality cars coming and we have a quality track so I’d be expecting a lot of five second passes – that will make the qualifying tough. If you qualify you stand just as much as a chance winning a round or two as the guys in the lane next to you.
“The Westernationals is the greatest race meeting in the west and maybe the whole of Australia for the door cars, so just to be part of it I’m excited. We couldn’t do it with out all our hard working crew, our families for letting us do it and all our sponsors: Dananni Haulage, Cable Layers Australia, BL&SG Lake Brick Cartage Contractors, Optibelt, Armadale Mini Loads and F Trucks WA.”
Moresby will be joined by a star studded MacTrack Westernationals Pro Slammer field that includes the USA’s Frankie Taylor, points leader Paul Mouhayet and WA legend John Zappia. The MacTrack Westernationals also features the wild Top Bikes and over 200 entries from across the country racing in the Summit Sportsman Series over two big days, March 3 and 4.
