Hydraulink Jim Read Racing could not be more excited about this weekend’s Nitro Champs at Sydney Dragway (May 3-4) as the NDRC Australian Top Fuel Championship chase continues.
“What a time it is to be in Top Fuel,” Hydraulink Jim Read Racing Crew Chief, Bruce Read, said.
“Look at the performances that are being laid down lately – Harris has gone 3.683, Newby 3.73, we have gone 3.72; it is just a really incredible time when it comes to the numbers and there is still more to come.
“In Sydney, we will be joined by the US’ Larry Dixon in the car Harris went 3.73 in last year, so he will be one to keep an eye on too.
“It is going to be a real arm wrestle when we roll out on Sydney Dragway for the Nitro Champs, and to be honest, I just cannot wait to get there. I am excited!”
As a showcase event on their home ground, the Nitro Champs is always a special event for this legendary championship-winning team.
“To do well at the Nitro Champs is something we would absolutely love to do – there’s nothing better than performing in front of your home crowd and repaying their support with record-setting runs and event victories,” Hydraulink Jim Read Racing Driver, Phil Read, said.
“We are more than capable, the set-up is there, our team is ready, and gains we have made lately have us really poised to return to that form that saw us dominate at the start of this season.
“The competition at the moment, as Bruce said, is just incredible, and it really has us invigorated and champing at the bit to get out there and show what we have got this weekend.
“With the long weekends lately we have been taking advantage of every moment of extra time we have had to be in the workshop to make sure we are ready to launch, as I am sure our competitors have too.
“I have no doubt you are going to see some huge performances at the Nitro Champs and across the rest of this season – don’t take your eyes off Top Fuel!”
