HYDRAULINK JIM READ RACING EYES WESTERNATS DOUBLE

Last year Hydraulink Jim Read Racing took home the A-Final Top Fuel victory at the Perth Motorplex’s Westernationals – now the team is on their way to hopefully ‘do the double’ at the the 2024 running of the event this weekend (March 2-3).

Three-time champion Phil Read is currently fifth on the National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC) Top Fuel championship points ladder as Top Fuel gets ready for its only visit to West Australia this year.

“The Perth Motorplex has always been a good place for us and as the site of our last A-Final victory, we are pretty keen to get back there and try and do it all again this weekend,” Hydraulink Jim Read Racing driver, Phil Read, said.

“With it also being our only visit to WA for the year, we are super, super keen to do the double and make our mark at one of the best race tracks in this country once again. Last year’s event was huge, and we expect this year will be even bigger.”

At the 2023 event, Read faced off against Peter Xiberras for the victory, with both drivers pedalling exceptionally hard down the 1000ft distance.

“Last year the A-Final sure was an intense run on both sides of the drag strip, but we were never going to let off and neither was Pete,” Phil said.

“For both of us winning that final was all-important, and thankfully it was us that took it home. Hopefully we can do it again this year.”

“While Pete won’t be here this time around, there are still plenty of very strong and quality competitors and cars lining up in Top Fuel to fight it out at this headline event of the WA drag racing calendar, and as always, no one will be giving an inch,” Hydraulink Jim Read Racing Crew Chief, Bruce Read, added.

“We are continuing to work on refining our tune and we can’t wait to put on a show in front of what is expected to be a packed house at the Perth Motorplex this weekend.”
