As the new 2023/2024 Australian Top Fuel Championship season gets ready to kick off this weekend, Hydraulink Jim Read Racing is pulling out all the stops for their latest championship challenge with the support of a full suite of returning sponsors.

The new Top Fuel season will be held as part of the recently established National Drag Racing Championship (NDRC) and will take in seven events between October 2023 and June 2024.

The title chase commences this weekend across the 21st and 22nd of October, at the brand-new world-class Dragway at The Bend facility at Tailem Bend in South Australia.

It will then continue to Willowbank Raceway (1-2 December), Sydney Dragway (26-27 January) and the Perth Motorplex (2-3 March), before returning to The Bend for April 6-7 and then Sydney (3-4 May), ahead of the grand final at Willowbank Raceway’s Winternationals (6-9 June).

“Heading into the new season is always an exciting time, and to be kicking off that new title chase at a brand-new venue is something the entire Top Fuel field is looking forward to,” Hydraulink Jim Read Racing driver, Phil Read, said.

“We have all been anxiously watching the construction for this venue and the place looks amazing and we have been leaving no stone unturned over the off-season as we look to make sure that we can be the first ones to life a Top Fuel winners’ trophy there!”

Hydraulink Jim Read Racing Crew Chief, Bruce Read, is currently working on the NHRA circuit in the United States. He has been appointed Assistant Crew Chief to Jim Oberhoffer on Clay Millican’s entry through to the end of 2023, but will be returning to Australia for the Top Fuel championship events.

“Hydraulink Jim Read Racing has a long association with Jim ‘Jim O’ Oberhoffer, with Jim often coming Down Under to work with us and I have been greatly enjoying having the chance to work with him and Clay Millican in the NHRA through the second half of 2023 as his Assistant Crew Chief,” Read said.

“All of my crew have been working super hard over the Australian off-season to make sure we are in the best shape we can be ahead of the season opener, and I can’t thank them enough for their dedication and efforts during my absence.

“Not only that, but I am also proud to confirm that all of our sponsors have renewed with us for the 2023/2024 season, which is a great boost for our team.

“Having the backing of such a great group of businesses really makes the dream possible, and I am confident that we are heading into this new season in great shape to bring home the results to repay their enduring support.”
