Hydraulink Jim Read Racing will begin a new championship hunt this week with the first round of the 2022/2023 Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship kicking off at Alice Springs Inland Dragway this Thursday and Friday (September 1 and 2).

The Sydney-based team will be hoping for a repeat of their opening round success last season, as it looks to get their pursuit of a 24th national Top Fuel championship off to the best possible start at this week’s Red CentreNATS event.

“In 2022, we took out the opening round victory at home in Sydney. It was the perfect start to our season, and while the rest of the title chase may not have panned out as we had hoped, we never gave up the fight,” Hydraulink Jim Read Racing driver and three-time Top Fuel champion, Phil Read, said.

“From the moment we finished up at the season finale in Darwin in June, we have been planning and preparing for the new season start at Alice Springs Inland Dragway.

“Our motivation and our passion are at an all-time high, our entire crew is back together, and we are ready to go after the title harder than ever before.

“We have got seven rounds ahead of us and we are going to be absolutely bringing it to each and every one, so watch this space!”

As they have prepared for the new season, the team has been buoyed by the continued backing of title partner Hydraulink, and associate sponsor, Valvoline.

“We are incredibly blessed to have such an amazing level of support around us, from our amazing crew to our loyal sponsors, we really couldn’t ask for more,” Hydraulink Jim Read Racing Crew Chief, Bruce Read, said.

“Having both Hydraulink and Valvoline renew their partnerships with us ahead of the new season gives us a great boost as we head to Alice Springs.

“You can rest assured we will be leaving no stone unturned as we look to repay the loyalty of our sponsors, our crew, and our fans.

“With events in every Australian state and territory with a national level drag racing facility, the new season is going to be truly epic, and we are 100 percent dedicated to making sure that we are celebrating our newest national title at the end of it!”
