HYDRAULINK JIM READ RACING READY FOR REDEMPTION THIS SATURDAY

Hydraulink Jim Read Racing is hoping that this Saturday’s Top Fuel Xmas Showdown at Sydney Dragway will ring in not only the Christmas season, but also redemption for the team following a challenging season opener.

“The first round of the new NDRC Top Fuel Championship was nothing short of spectacular with incredible racing in front of more than 35,000 race fans, but there is no doubting it was a difficult weekend for us results-wise,” Hydraulink Jim Read Racing Crew Chief, Bruce Read, said.

“We were up against it with a brand-new combination, missed testing opportunities due to weather, and a number of mechanical gremlins, but the event and the crowd truly was fantastic and we were so proud to be a part of what was a monumental and important event.

“Even though things didn’t work out for us, there is no doubting this is a fantastic time in Top Fuel history here in Australia and we are so excited about the remainder of the season, starting this Saturday at our home-track of Sydney Dragway.”

Going from a brand-new track with no data to somewhere much more familiar, Read is hopeful his team will be celebrating in Sydney come the end of Saturday’s action-packed one-day racing program.

“We have gone over the car with a fine tooth comb and are more than ready to get into all the action this Saturday,” he said.

“Where we were all flying a bit blind in Adelaide, we have absolute reams and reams of data for Sydney, and we are feeling quietly confident we can put on a fantastic show for the fans and hopefully hunt down an NDRC event win to get our championship tilt back on track.

“And of course, it is always great to be racing at home – we love this venue, the officials and all of the team here, and racing in front of our local friends, family and fans is always something special.”

Read has spent the last few months in the US as co-crew chief for Clay Millican’s Rick Ware Racing Top Fuel Dragster alongside the highly respected Jim Oberhofer.

In a return of the favour, ‘Jim O’ will be on-hand in Sydney to assist Hydraulink Jim Read Racing this weekend.

“It is going to be great to once again have Jim O here in Sydney with us for the Top Fuel Xmas Showdown – here is hoping we can be lifting the trophy together come Saturday night!” Bruce added.

“He is champing at the bit and of course everyone on our team wants redemption after the challenges of Adelaide, so watch this space!”
