Ex-pat Australian drag racer Jason Grima is preparing to take the next step in his racing career, announcing a move into the hard-hitting world of Mountain Motor Pro Stock in the United States – and in a Camaro no less!

After establishing himself in both Pro Stock racing in Australia and Competition Eliminator competition in the NHRA with small-block power, Grima will now tackle one of drag racing’s most demanding and spectacular classes for fans of all-motor competition. The change will also see Grima move to a Chevrolet bodied Camaro, a significant deviation from racing with Ford power his whole Pro Stock career.

Before making the transition, the former 2013 Australian Pro Stock Champion added one of the biggest achievements of his career last year, claiming victory at the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals in Competition Eliminator. The win came at one of the toughest and most prestigious events on the global drag racing calendar and further cemented Grima’s reputation as a formidable force outside his native country.

Despite competing in different categories across two countries, the car at the centre of his NHRA campaign remained fundamentally an Australian Pro Stock machine that had been adapted to suit Competition Eliminator regulations. The unique combination gave American fans a rare chance to see Australian Pro Stock-style machinery competing on U.S. soil, effectively showcasing the strength and capability of the category on the world stage.

The move to Mountain Motor Pro Stock represents a significant step up, with the class featuring some of the largest naturally aspirated engines in drag racing and a fiercely competitive field.
