Jim Read Racing looking to bookend 2022 Top Fuel season

Hydraulink Jim Read Racing is hoping to finish the 2022 Burson Auto Parts Top Fuel Australian Championship this weekend (June 17/18) how it started it back in January – with great success.

When the new championship made its debut in Sydney at the beginning of this year, the local team blazed through for a convincing victory to take an early championship lead.

While things haven’t exactly gone to plan since then, with a startline explosion in Sydney and a timing malfunction at Heathcote in particular putting a damper on their title hopes, Jim Read Racing has never wavered in its focus and commitment to chasing victory on behalf of its valued supporters.

At this weekend’s season finale at the Hidden Valley Dragstrip’s Nitro Up North event, the team will be as laser-focused as ever on bringing home strong results.

“It has been a difficult season, there is no shying away from that, but every single person on our team remains as dedicated and committed as ever to turning that around and I am confident we will do so this weekend in Darwin,” Hydraulink Jim Read Racing driver, Phil Read, said.

“To end the season like we started it with a victory would be the perfect repayment to our crew, all of our fans and our valued sponsors for all of their support this year, and a great way to launch ourselves into what is already shaping up to be a very exciting next season.”

The Nitro Up North event is being held alongside the Supercars’ Merlin Darwin Triple Crown event.

“Every I is dotted, every T is crossed, we have left no stone unturned in our preparation – now all there is to do is to get out there and put on a fantastic show of genuine Top Fuel action for all the fans,” Hydraulink Jim Read Racing Crew Chief, Bruce Read, said.

“Whether they are drag racing tragics or whether they are being introduced to our sport for the first time as part of the Supercars’ Merlin Darwin Triple Crown, we are looking forward to putting on the best show possible for them.”

As part of the event festivities, Hydraulink Jim Read Racing will be joined by their fellow Top Fuel racers at Darwin’s The Precinct for a special meet and greet with fans on Thursday evening at 6.00pm.

“We encourage everyone to come down to The Precinct on Thursday and say hello at what will be a great way to start our Darwin activities,” Bruce said.

Qualifying for Nitro Up North will be held on Friday evening (June 17) at the Hidden Valley Drag Strip, ahead of three rounds of racing on Saturday evening (June 18).
