JOSH LEAHY READY TO DO BATTLE AT DAY OF THE DRAGS

After being postponed earlier this year, the Day of The Drags is set down for this weekend, June 24 at Sydney Dragway.

This year the Aeroflow Nitro Funny Car team will be bringing “The Bandit” Trans Am driven by Josh Leahy, and the 57 Chev “Nitro Express” driven by Morice Mcmillin to put on a show, and provide a solid dose of nitro for the crowd!

With all pre-1979 models welcome, the day is a casual, but octane fuelled trip down Nostalgia Lane featuring Classic Bike, HAMBster, Top Eliminator, Top Gas, Vintage Gas, Supercharged Outlaws and more including nostalgia-based street classes.

“The Day of the Drags is a relaxed race event with cool cars, I really dig it!” commented Leahy. “My family’s history has been around nostalgia style racing, so being able to drive the Bandit at Sydney Dragway for this event has got me pretty excited.”

Josh has been on form with the Bandit lately, and looks to improve yet again with an awesome surface, car upgrades and some stiff competition in the other lane.

“Last time out we managed to reset our PB in The Bandit, so we want to pick up where we left off. We’ve added some new go-fast bits to the Outlaw cars which should help us chip away at the ETs,” said Leahy.

Although up-beat about the potential of the car and a new PB, there’s always that pesky competitor in the other lane trying to steal the light – this time to be filled by Morice McMillan and the infamous nlack Chev – Nitro Express.

“Match racing against Morice in the Chev will give us some stiff competition since he just had some great success over in Perth, and we know they always bring it. Don’t worry, even though we are mates in the paddock, once that helmet goes on I’ll be bringing my A-game and chasing that win light!” Leahy said.

The Day of The Drags will be run this weekend on the 24th of June with match racing in the Outlaw Nitro Funny cars running at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. It’s a great day out for the whole family so get on down and support your local drag racer!
