Josh Leahy has licensed in the XPro by Aeroflow Nitro Funny Car and will make his debut at the Gulf Western Oil Nitro Champs at Sydney Dragway from 3-5 May 2024.
Leahy is a third generation racer and has been drag racing since he was 10 years old. In 2017, he was bitten by the Nitro bug and has been the driver of the ‘Bandit’ Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Car ever since and recently Leahy acquired his license in the XPro by Aeroflow Nitro Funny Car with a blistering 4.08 seconds at 463 km/h of the 1000ft distance.
“There are really no words to describe the feeling of driving one of these cars,” an ecstatic Leahy said. “The g-forces are unlike anything I have felt before, I was pinned back in the seat!”
Laying down some impressive ETs in the licensing session, Leahy was the first Nitro Funny Car driver in Australia to test out the 1000ft finish line.
“I think the recent amendment to 1000ft is a great outcome for our fans. We’ve been working closely with the NDRC to make the change to 1000ft in time for the Nitro Champs,” said Leahy.
“We’re keen to show the fans what we can do when we cram a Top Fuel engine into a funny car body.
“I am so grateful for GC (Graeme Cowin), Wendy and the whole Aeroflow Team for the incredible opportunity to drive the XPro by Aeroflow Nitro Funny Car.”
