ANDRA and the Sunraysia Drag Racing Association (SDRA) are excited to announce that the 2025 Junior Nationals will form part of the 2025/2026 ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship for the Langtree’s Machinery Services Junior Dragster and Junior Drag Bike brackets.

The event, which will be held at the Atlantic Oils Sunset Strip across September 27-28, has grown from strength to strength in recent years under the stewardship of the SDRA committee.

For it to now double as a round of the Junior Dragster and Junior Drag Bike brackets in the ANDRA Sportsman Series is another exciting event forward for what is a marquee event for Australia’s junior drag racers.

“The SDRA have been working long and hard over the years to make this a great event for the kids and we are so excited to take this next step of the event becoming a round of the ANDRA Sportsman Championship,” SDRA President, David Thornton, said.

“It is always a great weekend of racing, food and fun for parents and kids alike, but racing for an ANDRA Christmas Tree and championship points will bring an extra bit of excitement. With the Sunset Nationals held the weekend prior, it also gives a great opportunity to spend some time in the region while running two events back to back.

“The format will be similar to previous events with separate brackets for A, B and C one day, and combined brackets the other day, at which the Junior racers will compete for ANDRA Sportsman Championship points and an ANDRA Christmas tree.”

ANDRA Chief Executive Officer, Tim McAveney, said he was thrilled to see the Junior Nationals become part of the ANDRA Sportsman Championship.

“There is no doubt that SDRA have done a fantastic job with the Junior Nationals and it is now a showcase event for the junior ranks of Australia’s drag racing scene,” McAvaney said.

“We have always been proud to support the event where we can and to now have it become part of our ANDRA Sportsman Championship is something we are very excited about.

“Fostering the next generation is something that is critically important, and with Junior Drag Bike enjoying ANDRA championship status for the first time in 2025/2026 following their impressive growth over the past 12 months, the timing is just perfect for this exciting step.

“We cannot wait to see Junior Dragsters and Junior Drag Bike competitors competing for ANDRA Christmas Trees and valuable ANDRA Sportsman Championship points at this event which is all about them – our next generation of the sport.”

More details about the 2025/2026 ANDRA Regional Sportsman Championship will be released shortly.
