Shane Kosteszyn returned to the track at Perth Motorplex for the first time in a while at the recent Aeroflow Outlaw Nitro Funny Cars event but all did not go to plan for the Ford Mustang and its pretty promotional team.
“In Q1 we had a switch located on the rear bumper fail to make contact when it was activated in the pits just before going out,” Kosteszyn explained. “It sends 12 volts to the MSD to bring on the rev limiter for the burnout which is 9000.
“That didn’t happen so the engine saw the down track limiter which is 10,800. In a no load situation like that with big rpm it wiped out a set of brand new valve springs that I fitted a week prior to the meeting. That 20 dollar switch cost me $1k for those springs and another $1k for the springs that are on their way from the US and of course the loss of an awesome meeting. Guess that’s racing!”
But the team is already rebuilding for the Goldenstates in just a few weeks time, which will see them competing in Super Stock.
