The Fuchs Springnationals at Adelaide International Raceway featured a Lamattina lockout in the Top Fuel final and it was older brother Phil who got the win, as well as the ANDRA Championship points lead, after one of the most successful events ever for the LTFR team.
Qualifying saw younger brother John Lamattina head the timing charts with Phil in second, closely following by the two Rapisarda Autosport International cars.
“It was a close session,” explained Phil.
“That’s the way you want it, tight racing is what we are here for and the four drivers and cars at the Adelaide event are the very best there is at the moment.”
The semi finals saw John meet Damien Harris, the drivers sitting fourth and third in the championship points respectively.
John’s 4.205-second pass at 273.55 mph got him the win over Harris and a ticket straight to the final.
ANDRA Championship points leader Allan Dobson, lined up against Phil in the second semi and Phil managed to take the win over the West Australian with a 4.313 at 247.66.
John handed over lane choice to his older brother Phil who took the win with a 4.203 second pass over John’s 4.537.
Phil confirmed he’d be flying solo at the season ending event in Sydney.
“In Sydney we’ll be running the one car. We just believe that we just need to focus all of our efforts on the one car and we believe that’s the best shot we have.
“We don’t go to a race meeting just to win a couple of rounds, we would love to go three rounds and win the Championship with an exclamation mark.”
