Lamattina ready to avenge Adelaide finals loss

Former Australian Top Fuel Lamattina is determined to go ‘one better’ at the Sydney Dragway Nitro Champs this week after his runner-up result in Adelaide just a few weeks ago.

The Fuchs Lubricants sponsored machine broke a throttle cable whilst leading in the final of the Adelaide event, the first held in Australia over the US-inspired 1000-foot distance.

“I know it’s a cliché but it was the five dollar part the cost us dearly in Adelaide.”

“I take nothing away from Darren Morgan and his team, they did a better job than we did and deserved the win but I’m ready to get back to the top step of the podium.”

LTFR Crew Chief Aaron Hambridge is also keen for success.

“We have had the tune-up in the car to do the job but it’s the small things that have held us back.”

“We have excellent data for Sydney and we will be looking to deliver Fuchs and LTFR some ANDRA Gold,” added Hambridge in reference to the ANDRA Gold Christmas Tree trophy.

Lamattina added, “Sydney will be a quality field and it will be no mean feat to make it to the final. We will need to beat all of the heavy hitters including Morgan, Cowin, Harris and you can add the Read (Phil) car and Santo’s machines to that list – and wouldn’t have it any other way.”
