Lamattinas: 1000 feet move earlier than expected

Lamattina Top Fuel Racing have issued a statement indicating a move to 1000 feet racing for Australian Top Fuel teams was not expected for the coming 400 Thunder season.

LTFR made clear that as a team they had no issues with the decision to adopt the NHRA distance of 1000 feet, rather than full quarter mile racing, but said it was understood the change would most likely happen in the 2018/19 season.

“400 Thunder made the decision to move to 1000 feet racing whilst the majority of Top Fuel Australia members indicated their preference for quarter mile competition for the remainder of the 2017/2018 calendar,” the statement said.

“The major quarter-mile drag racing facilities in Australia have the highest safety standards and we, along with other teams, were comfortable with pushing the performance and potentially world records on the quarter mile in the 2017/18 season.

“LTFR has the upmost respect for the Rapisarda Autosport International Racing Team (which you can read here), and the decision they made and released to the public. We certainly have no rift between our race teams, just different feelings on the matter.”

“As a team, we a pumped for the season ahead and we look forward to bringing a great show to public, first stop – East Coast Nationals at Sydney Dragway!”
