Lisa Gregorini will become the highest-ever finishing woman in the Australian Top Doorslammer Championship this weekend at Hidden Valley Drag Strip’s Nitro Up North event, the only question is — how high?

Lisa currently sits second in the series, behind runaway championship winner Russell Taylor and just ahead of veteran racer John Zappia and his nephew Brodie Zappia. Her all-female team is ready for the final event of the championship season.
“Every run and every round win will be critical,” Lisa said. “Some teams like to be the underdog but we’ve been the underdogs all season long and nothing changes for Darwin. We’re aiming to master that track early in the event and make the dreams of this team come true.
“The strategy for Darwin hasn’t changed much from other events — stay consistent. The Darwin racing surface can change rapidly from warm day time temps to cooler evenings and the team that best stays on top of that will be hard to beat.”

Both Lisa and her husband Daniel’s supercharged Camaros will be at Nitro Up North to engage with their many fans from the Northern Territory, before heading south for the Red Centre Nats at Alice Springs Inland Dragway.
“We were approached by Andy Lopez to do something cool and different at this year’s Red Centre Nats and he came up with the great concept of family feud,” Daniel said. “We are going to have a match race deal against the Zappia family over three rounds, with every race to be a Gregorini versus a Zappia. We will use points to decide a final and see who is crowned the winner.
“We have years of rivalry with the Zappia family in Western Australia and the fans know that whenever our families line up it is going to be a great race. They race hard, we race hard and ultimately the fans are going to go home happy when they see the times both teams throw down!”

As the season winds down, Scratch & Match Motorsport will also be wrapping up their marketing relationship with Consolidated Group after two years of cooperation.
“We wish to thank Consolidated Group for their support and all the best into the future,” Daniel said. “We are going to be working with our other team partners to continue to deliver the best for their brands and we are always looking to add new companies to the mix. What has been great recently is seeing our sponsors getting to know each other and find ways for their businesses to work together — that really demonstrates the effectiveness of being a part of this incredible drag racing team.”
