Local Sportsman racing was an action packed affair at Hidden Valley this weekend as the 2015 NT Titles was hosted over Friday and Saturday nights.
Combined with round two of the Top Doorslammer points chase for the ANDRA Drag Racing Series, the NT Titles enticed a host of interstate teams to make the journey north – but it was an all local affair for most categories.
HVDRA President Scott MacLean was quick to congratulate the winning teams from the weekend, commending everyone on the mammoth effort of hosting a second national event for Darwin in only two months.
“Sportsman racing is a critical part of the drag racing family,” said MacLean.
“It is our local grass roots racers that support Hidden Valley at every event and their continued support, along with our dedicated group of volunteer officials, and our sponsors that paint a bright future for Hidden Valley in coming years.”
Top Sportsman was an all altered final with the supercharged Bantom of Adam Murrihy taking out the win with a 6.566 on a 6.50 dial in against Allan Arthus who red lit.
Chris Parris again made the finals taking out the Super Sedan win against Ashley Smith with a stout 9.568 on a 9.55 dial in with his Holden Torana.
In other brackets, Modified Bike top qualifier Leith Darrach rounded out a good weekend defeating Mark Tattingham who broke out – Darrach finished with a 9.302 on a 9.20 dial.
Super Street saw Theo Karamnidis defeat Paul Cook after Cook broke out with a 10.991 on an 11.0 dial, the Beat the Heat Commodore rolling through with an 11.021 on an 11.0 dial in.
Damien Cooper came out on top against Bob Czerniawski in Street Car with a double breakout as both competitors ran quicker than their nominated times.
Gary Richard emerged victorious in the Street Bike category, running a 12.823 on an 12.7 dialin to fend off an out of shape Matt Schultz.
Darcy Muller handed the Junior Dragster win to her friend and rival Brooke Harris after she broke out with a 8.341 on an 8.40 dial in, Harris winning with a 9.178 on a 9.16.
Action returns to Hidden Valley on September 12 for the 2015 Track Championship Series.
