The MacLean Motorsport operation has arrived in Perth for the second outing of the brand new super team.

Scott MacLean will be competing at both the Goldenstates this weekend and the Westernationals on March 5 and 6 at Perth Motorplex.

After a successful first venture at the East Coast Thunder event at Sydney Dragway with his new Holden Monaro Top Doorslammer and freshened Top Alcohol Funny Car, MacLean is ready to consolidate on his performances and take on some of the big names in the sport.

“For our first event with the new combinations we were really pleased with the progress we made,” he said. “The Monaro began to perform very strongly towards the end of the event and it was only a red light that halted our progress.

“We’ve already clocked a 5.81 and we think there is more left yet. 5.7s are definitely going to be on the cards at Perth Motorplex and with those kind of performances we might be able to put up a decent challenge to the hometown hero – John Zappia.

“The Motorplex is Zap’s personal playground so we will need to respect his experience there, but we also have some great knowledge on our side thanks to Darren Mayer of DMPE so we are going to be in with a good chance.”

The Top Doorslammer will compete in two rounds of the ANDRA championship over the two events, while the Top Alcohol Funny Car will be taking part in a championship double header at the Westernationals, where two rounds of the series will take place over two nights.

“WA is renowned for its tough Top Doorslammer fields but there are some really quick guys there in Top Alcohol too,” MacLean said. “I think we will need every bit of the 5.4 second pace we showed in testing in Sydney to come away with a win.

“I’m really looking forward to the double header format. We’re going to have to be on point from the first run and that is a challenge I am ready for.”
