Mariani Motorsports is pleased to announce that Mark “The Shark” Mariani will be appearing with his 8,000 horsepower Top Fuel Dragster alongside Make-A-Wish® Australia at the Caltex Star Mart at North Ryde in Sydney this Friday 4th December.

The appearance of the decorated driver and his 500 kilometre per hour race car is to support Star Mart Wish Drive Day, an annual campaign raising funds for children’s charity Make-A-Wish Australia, which raised over $420,000 last year.

More than 600 Star Mart stores around Australia, along with Make-A-Wish volunteers, staff and wish recipients, will take part in this initiative to raise funds through activities like sausage sizzles, tin-shaking and an old fashioned driveway service by donation, with a portion of sales from selected products purchased in store to be donated to the charity.

“We have been associated with Make-A- Wish for over 12 months now and over that time we have helped raise awareness amongst the general community, as well as the racing community, of the great work they do in helping make the wishes of very sick kids come true,” said Mariani today in a statement.

Off the back of a solid season debut at the opening event of the 2015-16 season, where Mariani lost to the reigning Australian Champion Damien Harris by mere centimetres after his parachute prematurely deployed, team owner and driver Mark Mariani is looking forward to putting the loss behind him.

“We had a fantastic event, and even more importantly we raised money for Make-A-Wish via our collection points around the racetrack, as well as treating some wish kids to an up close and personal experience of the fastest and most exciting motorsport in Australia!”

“Losing in the first round is never fun but we learnt plenty, and considering that it was the first time that our new tuning consultant Mike Domagala had worked with the team, we were satisfied with the result and are looking forward to the rest of the 400 Thunder Professional Drag Racing Season”.
